聖城特奧蒂瓦坎意為「創造眾神之地」。該城位於墨西哥市東北方五十公里處，建造於西元1到7世紀間，以巨大建築物為特色，特別是依幾何與象徵原則所建的奎薩勒瓜特爾(Quetzalcoatl)神廟與日月金字塔。該城也是中美洲地區最強盛的文化中心之一，其文化與藝術影響力遍佈全區，甚至遠及他地。
